About UsWI - About US clr-01

IMPACT is a Christian-based organization founded in August 2009 by a group of African-American men who decided to turn a monthly breakfast club into a move for social change.  Out of their rich fellowship was born an ethos to make a positive IMPACT in Cookeville, particularly for the small African-American community.  They sought to demonstrate African-American Men as owners, shapers and true contributors in the Upper Cumberland.  As they grew in number and favor, they sought to broaden their scope of service to include the empowerment of all minority communities and build bonds of friendship with all-like minded people.

IMPACT C Logo In this life that we live no matter what we do one thing is certain, change will occur. As for IMPACT, that change is for the better! You may have noticed that our website is evolving as well as our group's logo which is a symbol borrowed from the West African Asante people's Adinkra culture called "DWENNIMMEN". This is a symbol of humility together with strength known as "the ram's horns". The ram will fight fiercely against an adversary, but it also submits humbly to slaughter, emphasizing that even the strong need to be humble. When doing the research for the logo, we determined this would be an awesome representation for IMPACT going forward. The original design used in the Adinkra culture is without the rectangular  border that you see depicted in our logo. The rectangle was incorporated to represent unity and togetherness. Unlike a circle or a square which are both equal, a rectangle is enclosed yet all sides are not equal. Those sides which make up the rectangle represents the members of our group. Each individual of IMPACT comes from a unique experience and sphere in life, yet when banded together with their fellow counterparts create a powerfully bonded synergy which represents that strength and humility working together for a common goal. All that being said, we are proud to have this symbol of strength and humility to represent this awesome organization of Innovative Men Progressing the African American Community Together.

IMPACT has embarked upon a new era and we invite you to join us on this path to achieving excellence throughout the Upper Cumberland.
